ForensicDr. Janine Cutler works in private practice in Toronto and is a clinical supervisor at Andrew Shaul Psychology Professional Corporation (ASPPC) and is able to provide assessment, treatment and consultation services for individuals who have come in contact with the law. Dr. Cutler has experience and expertise in providing clinical services to both male and female offenders, as well as to special needs populations (e.g., intellectually impaired; mentally disordered) in both institutional and community settings. Dr. Cutler conducts psychological risk assessments of adults, which assess factors related to the individual's personality, personality functioning and psychopathology and, if appropriate, cognitive functioning. The assessment also focuses on the individual's criminal behaviour (including inappropriate sexual, aggressive and violent, and antisocial behaviour), identifies factors contributing to the criminal behaviour, assesses risk and risk factors, and provides recommendations for treatment, case, and risk management. Depending on the referral question, the assessment also might address the issue of fitness to stand trial, criminal responsibility, or Dangerous Offender/Long-Term Offender status.

Dr. Cutler provides treatment planning and treatment services for adults who have engaged in inappropriate sexual, aggressive and violent, and antisocial acts. Treatment is empirically informed, strengths-based and individualized, so as to address the germane risk, needs and responsivity factors of each client. A number of treatment methods are utilized, including cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, feminist therapy, and psycho-education.
